Engineering & Design Assist

High-tier electrical engineering forms the backbone of safe, resilient and highly efficient facilities — power distribution, lighting, low-voltage, solar PV and EV charging, engineered to NEC and IECC.

An Extension of Your Team

Anticipating conflicts before construction

From complex power distribution to sophisticated fault analysis, our electrical design assist integrates seamlessly into your internal workflows. We act as an extension of your team, anticipating potential spatial or load conflicts before they reach the construction phase.

Electrical is all we do — and that focus shows in the depth of our work. Panel schedules that balance, feeders sized with documented calculations, lighting that passes energy-code review the first time, and solar and EV infrastructure designed to the exact NEC articles your plan reviewer will check.

Core strength

Power Distribution

Service and feeder design, panel schedules, load calculations to NEC Article 220, fault current and short-circuit analysis, grounding and bonding, and life-safety power — engineered to NEC and local amendments.

Lighting & Low-Voltage

Lighting layouts and controls to IECC, photometric calculations, egress and emergency lighting, plus fire alarm, data and communications infrastructure that plan reviewers approve the first time.

Solar PV & EV Charging

Solar PV systems to NEC 690/705, energy storage to NEC 706, and EV charging infrastructure to NEC 625 — including EVEMS load-management design that avoids costly service upgrades.

FAQ

Electrical design assist — common questions

What is electrical design assist?

Electrical design assist is engineering support where SYMATEQ works as an extension of your in-house team — producing electrical power, lighting and low-voltage designs that integrate directly into your workflows, anticipating spatial and load conflicts before construction.

Why choose an electrical-only specialist over a generalist firm?

Because depth beats breadth. Our engineers work exclusively in electrical design, so every deliverable reflects current NEC and IECC requirements, local amendment awareness and plan-review experience that generalist teams spread across many disciplines can't match.

Which codes do you design to in the US and Canada?

We engineer to the National Electrical Code (NEC) and local amendments, plus IECC and ASHRAE 90.1 for lighting energy compliance, NFPA 72 for fire alarm, NFPA 99 and NFPA 101 for healthcare and life-safety — permit-ready and code-compliant.

How does SYMATEQ reduce project risk?

Early clash and load-conflict detection reduces costly change orders, and senior-led execution mirrors your firm's standards so deliverables feel in-house and need minimal rework.

What is the benefit of outsourcing electrical engineering versus hiring in-house?

Outsourcing gives you senior-led electrical engineering capacity on demand — without the 3–6 month lead time to hire and onboard. You scale up for peak periods and back down without overhead, and our 24/7 time-zone advantage means your project moves forward around the clock at no overtime cost to your firm.

Do you adopt our existing Revit templates and CAD standards?

Yes. We adopt your firm's Revit templates, title blocks, layer standards and CAD conventions from day one so QC review time is minimal and the documents feel like they were produced internally. We can also build to your BIM Execution Plan (BEP) if one is in place for the project.

What is a typical turnaround time for an electrical plan set?

Our time-zone advantage means we can turn around a typical electrical plan set or load calculation in 24–48 hours from receiving the base drawing set. For larger projects we agree on a milestone schedule aligned to your submittal deadlines — and we commit to it.

Do you work with architects, general contractors, and PE firms?

Yes — all three. For PE firms we function as an offshore electrical design extension. For architects we provide electrical design that plugs into the Revit model. For GCs we provide pre-construction electrical BIM coordination and as-built documentation.

Do you design EV charging infrastructure and panel capacity?

Yes. We calculate EV charger loads to NEC Article 220 and size the EVSE (Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment) circuits, conduit runs and panel capacity. For multi-station commercial sites we design the Electric Vehicle Energy Management System (EVEMS) per NEC 625.42 — allowing smart load sharing across all EV stations without upsizing the main service, which is the most cost-effective approach for parking garages, corporate campuses and retail centers.

Can you design solar PV and battery storage systems?

Yes. We design solar PV systems to NEC Article 690, interconnections to NEC 705, and energy storage systems to NEC 706 — including rapid shutdown, DC circuit sizing, inverter selection and point-of-connection analysis. Every design is prepared for the adopted NEC edition in your project's state and jurisdiction.
