MEP engineering for healthcare.

Clinics and medical offices carry extra rules: essential power, ventilation rates, and medical gas and vacuum. We design to them and show the work.

In shortClinic and medical-office packages cover essential power coordination (NFPA 99 and NEC 517), ventilation rates to ASHRAE 170, dental medical gas and vacuum, and a coordinated Revit model, prepared for your engineer to review and issue.

Scope, by discipline.

Typical items on healthcare projects. Exact scope is agreed before we start.

Electrical

  • Essential electrical system coordination (NFPA 99, NEC 517)
  • Exam-room power and lighting
  • Emergency lighting and egress
  • Nurse-call, data and low-voltage layouts

Mechanical

  • Ventilation rates to ASHRAE 170
  • Heating and cooling load calculation
  • Pressure relationships and exhaust
  • Equipment schedules

Plumbing

  • Dental medical gas and vacuum (NFPA 99)
  • Fixture counts and hand-wash sinks
  • Water heating
  • Backflow protection (ASSE)

Engineering

Design assist and permit drawings.

  • Dental clinics
  • Medical offices
  • Renovations & additions

Drafting and modeling

Questions about clinics and medical offices.

What is an Essential Electrical System (EES) in healthcare?

Under NFPA 99 it is the emergency power system serving patient care areas, arranged in branches for life safety, critical and equipment loads and fed through transfer switches. Whether a facility needs one depends on its classification, which we establish with your engineer at the start.

Do you design emergency power for outpatient clinics and medical office buildings?

Yes, as design assist for your engineer: generator and transfer switch coordination, circuit identification and the emergency power drawings, to NFPA 99, NFPA 110 and NEC Articles 517 and 700 as the classification requires.

What does NEC Article 517 mean for patient care area wiring?

Article 517 sets the wiring rules for patient care spaces: hospital-grade receptacles, specific grounding and, in critical care areas, redundant sources for patient bed locations. We classify each room with the facility and design the receptacles and circuits to match, a common plan-review focus.

What ventilation and lighting standards apply to clinics?

Ventilation rates follow ASHRAE 170 for healthcare facilities, and lighting follows the IES healthcare recommendations (IES RP-29) with egress lighting to NFPA 101. We design to the editions your jurisdiction has adopted.

Can you do dental medical gas, vacuum and clinic rollouts?

Yes. We prepare dental medical gas and vacuum layouts to NFPA 99 as design assist, and prototype packages for dental, urgent-care or clinic brands that adapt quickly to each new site. See plumbing.

Do you coordinate healthcare ceilings in BIM?

Yes. Healthcare ceilings are among the most crowded: power, nurse call, alarm pathways, ducts and pipes compete for space. We model them in Revit and run clash detection in Navisworks before any ceiling is closed.

Which MEP services do you offer for clinics and medical offices?

For clinics and medical offices we provide electrical, mechanical and plumbing design assist, plus MEP drafting and Revit modeling. Typical scope includes essential electrical system coordination (NFPA 99, NEC 517), ventilation rates to ASHRAE 170 and dental medical gas and vacuum (NFPA 99). The exact scope is agreed before we start.

Where do you provide MEP drafting and modeling for clinics and medical offices?

In every region we serve: the US and Canada, Australia and New Zealand, the United Kingdom, Ireland, the Netherlands, Finland and the Middle East. In the US and Canada we also prepare the mechanical and plumbing calculations; elsewhere mechanical and plumbing come as design assist, drafting and modeling. See regions.
