Questions from clients in Australia and New Zealand.

Which standards do you design to in Australia and New Zealand?

AS/NZS 3000 (the Wiring Rules) in both countries, with AS/NZS 3008 for cable sizing, AS/NZS 1680 for interior lighting and AS/NZS 2293 for emergency lighting. Australian projects add the NCC and Section J energy provisions; New Zealand projects add the NZ Building Code.

How do you calculate maximum demand under AS/NZS 3000?

Maximum demand follows the methods in AS/NZS 3000, applying the demand and diversity allowances to the connected load to find the peak load of a dwelling or sub-board. The result sizes the main switchboard, the submains and the network connection application, and is documented for review.

Do you design lighting to NCC Section J and AS/NZS 1680?

Yes. We design interior lighting to AS/NZS 1680 illuminance recommendations and prepare the NCC Section J lighting power and control documentation, including occupancy sensing and daylight zones, plus emergency and exit lighting to AS/NZS 2293.

Does NCC Section J apply in New Zealand?

Section J belongs to the Australian NCC. In New Zealand, energy efficiency is covered by clause H1 of the NZ Building Code, while AS/NZS 3000 applies in both countries. We prepare the compliance documentation for the country the project is in.

Do you design solar PV, battery storage and EV charging to Australian standards?

Yes. We design PV array wiring to AS/NZS 5033, inverter grid connection to AS/NZS 4777 and battery systems to AS/NZS 5139, coordinating with the network operator on export limits and protection, and we design EV charging circuits and load management to AS/NZS 3000.

Can you model electrical systems and run clash detection for Australian and New Zealand projects?

Yes. We build the electrical and MEP model in Revit, coordinate it against structure and the other trades in Navisworks, and deliver coordination drawings in your template. See BIM and Revit modeling.

Do you use Australian terminology on drawings?

Yes. We follow your drawing conventions and terminology, including hydraulic services for plumbing.

Are your working hours compatible with Australia and New Zealand?

Yes. Our working hours overlap the Australian and New Zealand day, so questions are answered live and deliverables arrive in your working hours.

Which project types do you support in Australia and New Zealand?

In Australia and New Zealand we support homes and multifamily, retail stores, restaurants and cafés, hotels, clinics and medical offices, schools and community buildings, office fit-outs, mixed-use buildings, warehouses and industrial sites, data centers and solar, EV charging and backup power. Every project type has its own page with the scope by discipline: see projects.

Which services do you offer in Australia and New Zealand?

In Australia and New Zealand we provide electrical design assist and calculations, mechanical and plumbing design assist, drafting and modeling, lighting and photometric analysis, MEP drafting and Revit modeling, and BIM coordination. See services.

Do you offer MEP drafting and modeling in Australia and New Zealand?

Yes. MEP drafting and Revit modeling for electrical, mechanical and plumbing are available in Australia and New Zealand, in your template and to your BIM execution plan and drawing conventions. See MEP drafting and modeling.
